Built for the job site.
A plant and machinery hire business
CPS Plant Hire supplies plant and machinery on hire to the construction trade. Its customers are contractors, site managers and crews who need a particular machine on a particular site, usually at short notice and usually with a deadline already running.
Brandstart designed and built the website behind that business, from our own studio in Ballyroan, Co. Laois. This page is our own account of the project: what the client needed, the decisions we made and what we handed over.
A hire business needs to be easy to reach
Plant hire is a practical, deadline-driven purchase. Contractors and site managers need to see what machinery is available, understand quickly whether it suits the job, and get an enquiry in without friction, often from a phone on a busy site.
The competition for that enquiry is rarely another website. It is the number already saved in the foreman's phone, the yard the crew used last month, and the hire company whose name is painted on the machine parked across the road. A plant hire website is not trying to win an argument. It is trying to be the thing that gets found and rung when the usual option is not free.
That makes hesitation expensive in a way that never shows up as a complaint. If a visitor cannot tell within a few seconds whether the yard carries the class of machine they need, or how to ask about availability, they close the tab and ring somebody else. The enquiry does not arrive late. It simply never arrives.
CPS Plant Hire needed a website that presented the business with confidence, made the range easy to browse, and gave prospective hirers a fast, obvious way to make contact.
Designing for a phone on site, not a desk in an office
We started from the person making the enquiry rather than from a page template. That person is usually standing outside, often in poor light, frequently with one hand already occupied, and they are looking for three answers in a hurry: do you have the machine, will it do the job, and how do I ask about it now.
Every structural decision followed from those three questions. The range was given room to be presented properly instead of being compressed into one long list, so a visitor can recognise the class of machine they need without reading through everything the yard owns. Contact was treated as a permanent fixture of the layout rather than a destination at the end of a journey, because the moment somebody decides to enquire is not something a website gets to schedule.
We also kept the build deliberately light. Mobile coverage on a working site is not the same as mobile coverage in a town, and a page that only performs on a good connection is a page that fails in exactly the place this audience reads it.
A clear, no-nonsense website
We built a straightforward, professional site that puts the equipment and the enquiry path first. Nothing gets in the way of a contractor finding what they need and picking up the phone.
A confident, consistent identity gives the business the presence of a serious operator, and the page order follows the order the customer thinks in: what do you have, will it suit the job, how do I get a price. Enquiry routes repeat down the page rather than waiting at the bottom, so the decision to make contact can be acted on wherever it happens to be made.
Underneath it, the page structure, headings and titles were set out cleanly from the start, so the site began with a solid technical footing rather than needing that work retrofitted later.
What we handed over
- A full website design and build on a fast, mobile-first front end.
- A strong, credible identity that carries the CPS brand consistently across every page.
- Clearly presented services and equipment, structured so visitors can find the right machine quickly.
- Contact and enquiry options kept prominent throughout, so getting a quote is always the easy next step.
- A layout built for reading on a phone on site, not only at a desk in an office.
- Clean page structure and sensible titles, giving the site a solid technical footing to be found on Google.
- A straightforward content structure the business can extend as the fleet changes, without a redesign each time.
- A build kept light enough to load on the kind of connection a working site actually has.
An easy route from browsing to enquiry
The result is a clear, professional website that lets CPS Plant Hire present its range with confidence and makes hiring simple to enquire about. It reflects a dependable, practical business and gives every visitor an obvious path to getting in touch.
It also gives the business something solid to point at. A properly structured site is the asset every other route eventually lands on, from a Google listing to a sign on the yard gate to the number on the side of a machine. Each of those now arrives somewhere that can take the enquiry properly.
It is the kind of clear, purposeful web design we bring to businesses that need their website to do a straightforward job well. It is the same work we do for trade and construction businesses across Co. Laois, and you can see how the thinking travels into other sectors across the rest of our client projects.
